VCI stands for volatile corrosion inhibitor and VPI stands for volatile corrosive inhibitor. Papers and films treated with engineered chemicals safely prevent corrosion on protected metals. The chemicals in the VCI products are volatile. When metals are wrapped or packaged in VCI, the chemicals volatize in the packaging environment and form a protective molecular layer on the surface of the metal. This protective layer prevents salt, dirt, oxygen and other materials from depositing on the metal and causing corrosion. For more information on VCI, click here.
